They’re known to move through water quite efficiently

Their hair is strongly corded, harsh, dense and curly

Poodles are solid-colored in black, grey, tan, or blue

Or brown, silver, or apricot, white, or cream colored too

There’s the standard sized, miniature, and the toy type

The difference between the three is based upon their height

The standard sized is usually over 15 inches tall

The toy’s height, 10 inches or less, makes it rather small

Between 11 to 15 inches tall is the miniature

They’re adorable, active, alert, and make great pets for sure

Poodles have a level of intelligence-for they are very docile

And acting as family watch dogs, they’re quite exceptional

They develop a family bond, a bond that’s very strong

And for children and even pets, they learn to get along

They tend to bark a lot at people they don’t know

And always want something to do, they hate to sit idle

Their coat is hypoallergenic; sheds little if any hair

Which should be brushed frequently, one must be aware

To keep them clean, poodles must be bathed frequently

The ears and eyes of this dog must be cleaned regularly

Its owner periodically must trim their poodle’s claws

And the hair around the ears and eyes and also the paws

The poodle loves to play and needs lots of exercise

Or behavioral problems may develop, one must realize

Poodles live up to 15 years, they’re typically healthy

But are prone to develop progressive retinal atrophy

Many get hip Dysplasia, heart problems, or epilepsy

Hypothyroidism, ear infections, also diabetes

But if you enjoy a smaller dog that’s easy to control

And one who’s a great family pet, consider a poodle

Enroll collies in classes in agility and flyball

For it is stimulating games that they love most of all

They are quite alert with a good sense of direction

And are among the best in drug and bomb detection

Because they are well-behaved, gentle and so kind

They can assist the handicapped and also guide the blind

It’s from 12 to 15 years of age the collie hangs around

Some grow to 21 inches tall and as large as 50 pounds

It has a wedge-shaped head and a flat-topped skull

Its eyes are almond-shaped, dark brown, with arched eyebrows

Their outer coat is rough, and their inner coat is smooth

They need combing every 8 weeks after a thorough shampoo

Yes collies are great company and they are lots of fun

But not necessarily the best breed of dog for everyone

Although they are brilliant and a sweet loving pet

They can become quite destructive if their needs aren’t met

So if you handled lots of dogs and have in depth experience

Having a collie as a pet may probably make good sense

Dachshunds prefer to bond to just one owner alone

One will follow you around wherever you go

They like lots of affection, it is playing they love

And are fond of children that don’t play too rough

Dachshunds are prone to developing back injuries

So if you carry one around, hold it properly

Use harness, not a collar-keep one on a leash

Never ever let them run loosely on the streets

Just because of the fearless creatures they are

They will run out in traffic and get hit by a car

But if you love a hunting dog that is playful and fun

You should definitely consider owning a Dachshund
